Motspur Park 2-1 Epsom Casuals

Motspur Park claim victory in Surrey South Eastern League Cup First Round

Motspur Park secured a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Epsom Casuals in the First Round of the Surrey South Eastern League Cup, marking their first home game of the season and first cup win in two years.

The match was a closely contested affair, with both sides creating chances throughout the game. Motspur Park took the lead in the 68th minute through Max Workman, who produced a stunning volley to break the deadlock.

Workman then doubled the lead a few minutes later with a low finish after a well worked cut back from the edge of the 6 yard box.

Epsom Casuals responded well and scored through Harry Rose in the 89th minute, setting up a tense finish.

Manager Ethan Ferrao praised his team’s performance, stating: “It was a tight game and both sides could have won it. But when you have individual quality like the volley from Max, you always have a chance.”

Motspur Park will now progress to Round 2 of the competition, where they will face Division 3 league leaders Farleigh Rovers.
