Motspur Park Football Club was established in the 2014/15 season with just two youth teams and a clear vision to build a thriving, community-focused club. By 2015/16, that vision expanded into the adult game with the formation of our first senior side competing in the Kingston & District Football League under the management of Rob Dean.
The following season saw continued growth as our adult section moved into the Surrey South Eastern Combination Football League, adding both Reserve and A teams to strengthen the pathway for player development. In 2020/21 we introduced our Veterans team — initially formed by coaches and parents from our youth section — which has since grown into an open and welcoming squad for experienced players looking to stay involved in the game.
Today, Motspur Park FC is proud to be the only 3-Star England Accredited Club in the London Borough of Merton, with more than 55 teams, thriving soccer schools, inclusive football programmes, and over 1,000 active players, volunteers, and members across the club.
A Renewed Focus on the Adult Game
In December 2021, the club committee began reshaping the adult section to create stronger alignment between teams, improve player progression, and enhance our competitive standing. This included rebranding the adult setup as a distinct but closely connected arm of the club, allowing a dedicated steering group to focus fully on its growth while maintaining strong links to our successful youth pathway.
This structure ensures players benefit from clearer progression routes, enhanced coaching support, and a shared commitment to long-term development.
Building the Future
In September 2025, the club appointed Head Coach Miguel Ferreiro-Brandariz to lead the adult setup. Miguel has strong roots within Motspur Park FC, having supported player development from Soccer School Under-6 level through to Under-16s before transitioning into the senior pathway. He brings valuable coaching experience and is currently completing his UEFA B Licence, further strengthening the club’s technical leadership.
In January 2026, the Board of Directors reaffirmed its commitment to the adult pathway, supported by the exciting news that our home venue has been selected by the local authority for the installation of a new 4G pitch. This significant investment in facilities reflects the strength of our programme and will provide enhanced playing and training conditions for the years ahead.
We are actively investing in the future of our adult teams by dedicating more coaching expertise, organisational support and financial resource to create a competitive, well-run environment where players can develop and succeed whilst staying true to our community values.
Our ambition is clear: to establish a team competing at Step 8 level for the 2026/27 season and continue building a sustainable, competitive adult programme for the future.
